Radio New Zealand International

Radio New Zealand International has been a mainstay on the shortwave bands for many decades. They used to make it to my listening post in Spokane quite well in the wee hours of the morning around 1970. They are a reliable verifier and can be reached only by their web site or by email, as they no longer accept postal mail reports.

Over the years they have issued some nice QSL cards, a few of which you can see below (scroll down). I am listening to them right now on their Pacific area service on 9765 kHz. Think I will send them a report and see what comes back.

XETRA 690 kHz
X-TRA Music
Tijuana, Mexico

XETRA 690 Tijuana, Mexico was the first non-USA AM/MW station for which I received a QSL card. They would blast into Spokane over top CBU Vancouver with their “Beautiful Music” format. Fifty years ago in January 1970, they responded with the QSL card seen here. If I remember right, I sent the report simply to “X-TRA Music, Tijuana, Mexico” and the reply was postmarked in San Diego, California The station on the channel now is a Chinese/Asian format using the call letters of XEWW.
